Following on from SCHOOL OF ROCK, BEFORE SUNSET and A SCANNER DARKLY, director Richard Linklater has arrived at the feet of Orson Welles, the film based on a novel of the same name by Robert Kaplow. In November 1937, a teenager with dreams of making it on Broadway (Zac Efron as Richard Samuels), runs into and is cast by Orson Welles (Christian McKay, discovered for the part while doing a one-man show as Welles), who is at this point a famous NY dramatist mounting a production of Julius Caesar, but well before his time as a filmmaker. Richard is intent on the approval of his quick-tempered director, but finds himself distracted by by the irresistibly ambitious Sonja (Claire Danes), whose soft spot for more powerful men brings the tensions on set to a boil.
