February is Black History Month, and we celebrate it with a special tribute to "the first lady of song," Ella Fitzgerald. One of the most popular, accessible, and swinging vocalists of her generation, Ella Fitzgerald was also a first-rate improvisor who could hold her own with the instrumentalists of the day. Her recorded work encompasses several periods and styles of jazz and includes virtually all of the great American songbook.

Noted jazz vocalist and educator Sandra Dudley will discuss Ella's life and career, and will perform some of her most popular works. Sandra will be joined by Lori Mechem, Roger Spencer, & Marcus Finnie for this informative and entertaining program.

Those attending Jazz on the Move will be able to visit the Frist's exhibitions free of charge and will also receive discounted parking. This concert is made possible by an Arts Builds Communities (ABC) grant from the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission.
