    SunTrust Classical Series presents Brahms' Second Piano Concert featuring Nashville Symphony, Giancarlo Guerrero, conductor, and Louis Lortie, piano.

    Wagner - Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg
    R. Strauss - Suite from Ariadne auf Naxos
    Brahms - Concerto for Piano No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83

    Written at the height of his career, Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto is an expansive, marvelously ambitious work that contains the dramatic scope of a symphony. Notable for its masterful blending of orchestra and soloist — with plenty of breathtaking passages for both — the piece is also one of the most challenging piano pieces in the repertoire. It will be a dazzling show piece for Louis Lortie, a rising star in the classical music world. This all-German program opens with two opera excerpts by masters of the form, Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss.
