SunTrust Classical Series presents Dvorak's Eighth featuring Nashville Symphony, Gunther Herbig, conductor and Chee Yun, violin.

    Lutoslawski - Livre pour orchestre
    Saint-Saëns - Concerto for Violin No. 3 in B minor, Op. 61
    Dvorák - Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88, B. 163

Inspired by the folk tunes of his native Bohemia, Dvo?ák’s Eighth Symphony is a warm, bucolic work that showcases his genius for melody and vivid orchestral colors. This is music that conjures visions of forests and fields, fairy tales and village festivals, brought to a grand conclusion. Saint-Saëns wrote his Third Violin Concerto for the famed virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate. Full of stunning passages for the violin, the piece is equally notable as a shining example of Saint-Saëns’ compositional brilliance, with music of great passion and clarity.
