    SunTrust Classical Series presents Giancarlo Conducts Mahler's Second featuring Nashville Symphony, Giancarlo Guerrero, conductor, Nashville Symphony Chorus with George Mabry, chorus director, Janice Chandler Eteme, soprano and Frederica von Stade, mezzo-soprano.

    Mahler - Symphony No. 2 in C minor "Resurrection"

    Gustav Mahler grappled with the profoundest questions of existence in his music, and his Resurrection Symphony offers a resounding testament to the endurance of the human spirit. With its expansive orchestral and choral forces, which include an ensemble of offstage musicians, this work includes some of the composer’s most dramatic and transcendently beautiful music. After performing two movements from the Resurrection Symphony at the grand opening of Schermerhorn Symphony Center in 2006, soloists Janice Chandler Eteme and Frederica von Stade return for a full presentation, in what promises to be a rousing finish to the season.
