The Rymer Gallery is happy to announce the opening of Layered, an unveiling of the newest encaustic paintings from Dan Addington. A native Chicago artist, Addington has built an impressive career touring his works in galleries and museums across the nation. Addington has spent months creating this new group of paintings.

The figures and subjects that Addington depicts, are created with oil, tar, fabric, wood and sealed in wax. Many of the images are drawn from European iconic statuary, mixed with religious and gothic historical references. Addington explores the passage of time and the trick of memory with masterful skill in this latest body of works. His source material is familiar, symbolic, and hauntingly mysterious.

Additionally, The Rymer Gallery will be hosting new paintings by Casey Pierce, editor of local art publication the (rabbit), as well as a new body of work from L.A. Bachman titled The Big Breakup– an abstract depiction of the breakup of Pangaea.
