March 21, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Join us for an uplifting musical celebration of women hymn writers in historic Wightman Chapel on Scarritt-Bennett's campus. The concert will feature local professional singers performing hymns written by women. The concert will honor Women’s History Month and the 190th birthday of Fanny Crosby, one of the most prolific hymnists in history who wrote more than 8,000 hymns despite her blindness. Featuring conductor Joe Lee, performer Jama Bowen, pianist Rollie Mains, organist Jennie Smith, United Methodist hymnist and arranger Carlton Young, and more, with segments honoring women hymn writers from the 12th century to present day.
