Honk! Junior is theatre for children BY children. This contemporary retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic story, “The Ugly Duckling,” has a score that kids and adults will both enjoy.
Aimed primarily at children and their parents, this musical is set in the countryside. The story features Ugly, a duckling who discovers his inner beauty when he becomes a swan, his tearful mother Ida, Drake who "ducks" his fatherly responsibilities, a gaggle of comical geese, a sly, French cat who wants to befriend Ugly in order to eat him, a wisecracking bullfrog, and other zany barnyard creatures. Through watching this fun filled musical the audience will be reminded of the tolerant message, “Don’t judge a book by its cover!”
Honk! Junior is a production of the Young Entertainers on Stage (Y.E.S.) Program. Productions by Y.E.S are created specifically with children and teens in mind. Actors and actresses are students, kindergarteners through 12th graders only. Each play is handled completely by kids, which besides acting includes, stage mangaging, lights, props and more.
