Radio station 102.9 The Buzz has repackaged its annual Free Beer & Hot Wings Hootenanny concert in order to benefit The Community Fund of Middle Tennessee. CFMT helps in aiding the victims of the Nashville flood. Featuring performances by Three Days Grace, Apocalyptica and Halestorm; the benefit event has added Nashville residents and multi-platinum artists 3 Doors Down along with 7dayBinge which includes members of 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock’s Band and Muzik Mafia. The now relabeled “Free Beer and Hot Wings Hootenanny for Flood Relief” is also looking to add more of Nashville’s music luminaries to make special appearances throughout the evening.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to The Community Fund to benefit victims of the disastrous flood that ravaged Nashville over a week ago. GA tickets have also been greatly reduced to $20 as each artist has donated their performance fee to raise as many funds as possible for the cause.
On the shift from big rock n roll party to a big rock n roll benefit party Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace offers “When we heard what was happening in Nashville everyone in the band just wanted to lend a hand somehow. It wouldn’t feel right just coming through Nashville knowing what people are going through there without giving whatever we have to offer.”
3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold shared "this is our home and like many others in Nashville everyone in 3 Doors Down has either been directly affected or knows someone who has been affected by the disaster. I'm not sure anyone outside of Nashville really understands what we're going through here so of course we want put a spotlight on it and help any way we can"
Halestorm singer and guitarist Lzzy Hale commented, “We are humbled by the strength of the people in Nashville! We've had many memories as a band in this beautiful city, biggest of which was getting our band logo tattoos together, so it is permanently under our skin! I'm so glad that we can help, and be a part of the rebuild of one of music's greatest homes! You rock us Nashville."
On changing their annual radio station concert into a benefit for the victims of the flood 102.9 The Buzz Operations manager Troy Hanson explains, "It is both an honor and a privilege to be able to give service to our community in this time of need. It is our hope that we can offer a night away from the painful realities this flood has put in front of us, and raise some money for our neighbors who have lost much of what they have spent their lives building."
