Add Review/Comment
First Tennessee Summer Festival presents Beethoven & Brahms featuring Nashville Symphony, Kelly Corcoran, conductor, Claremont Trio, Bobby Taylor, oboe, Ellen Menking, oboe and Roger Wiesmeyer, oboe.
Telemann - Concerto for Three Oboes, Violins and Continuo in B-flat major
Beethoven - Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56 “Triple Concerto”
Brahms - Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98
Brahms’ Fourth Symphony is a boldly powerful statement, his last and greatest achievement as a symphonic composer. The music reveals his total mastery of form, giving expression to emotions of profound depth and intensity. Full of lyrical passages for the soloists, Beethoven’s triple concerto will feature the vivacious chamber ensemble Claremont Trio, who bring a spirit of exhilaration and engagement to everything they perform. The evening opens with a Baroque-era concerto by the German composer Georg Telemann, which will serve as a showcase for the Nashville Symphony’s three oboists, Bobby Taylor, Ellen Menking and Roger Wiesmeyer.
