The Nashville Public Library Foundation hosts the 2010 Literary Award Gala in the Main Library.  This year's recipient of the 2010 Literary Award is Billy Collins.

"Billy Collins writes lovely poems...Limpid, gently and consistently startling, more serious than they seem, they describe all the worlds that are and were and some others besides." -John Updike, 2006 Literary Award Winner

Billy Collins has been praised as "The Most Popular Poet in America" by the New York Times. No poet since Robert Frost has managed to combine high critical acclaim with such broad popular appeal. He is a regular guest on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion on National Public Radio, and is the author of eight collections of poetry, including his latest, Ballistics, and the noted Sailing Alone Around the Room: New and Selected Poems.

Billy Collins is a Distinguished Professor at Lehman College of the City University of New York and a s Senior Distinguished Fellow of the Winter Park institute of Rollins College. His works include, Questions About Angels, The Art of Drowning, Picnic, Lightning, Taking Off Emily Dickinson's Clothes, Sailing Alone Around the Room: New & Selected Poems, Nine Horses, The Trouble With Poetry and Other Poems, and Ballistics.
