A Raisin in the Sun
January 7-January 23, 2011
Add Review/Comment
A Raisin in the Sun, a Broadway play by Lorraine Hansberry, will be Circle Players’ first show of 2011. Patrick Kramer will direct this play based on a black family’s experiences on the Southside of Chicago between the 1940s and 1950s. The story is loosely based on a lawsuit filed in 1940 in which an African American family fought to revoke the racially restrictive laws of a property owners association. In 1961, A Raisin in the Sun was made into a movie starring the original Broadway cast, including Sidney Poitier. It was adapted for TV in 1989 and again in 2008.
