The Rymer Gallery proudly presents its second annual show of Savannah College of Art and Design’s MFA graduates. The exhibit, titled Interlude, features paintings by Tony and Margy Rich, Christopher Priore, Jonathan Yoerger, Nora Mulheren, Masumi Nyui, and is curated by Rymer Gallery director Tonia Trotter. As part of The Rymer Gallery’s outreach, Ms. Trotter maintains a close working relationship with Savannah College of Art and Design, allowing her to engage with emerging artists - keeping a finger on the pulse of the ever-evolving world of contemporary art.

Painter Tony Rich, whose work was recently featured in 2010’s MFA edition of New American Paintings, will be in attendance for the opening reception with his wife and fellow artist Margy Rich. A longtime passion for fine art led the Richs to apply for SCAD’s graduate program and relocate from New York to Savannah instead of settling into retirement. The change of direction paid off – upon completion of her MFA, Ms. Rich was immediately approached by SCAD to teach in the school’s painting department.

As a gesture of goodwill in their first Nashville show, the Richs have generously offered to donate a portion of their sales to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Flood Relief Fund, a cause with which The Rymer Gallery is engaged.

Christopher Priore’s mixed media wall installations will be featured in The Rymer Gallery’s project room. Mr. Priore creates high-concept, three-dimensional paintings on vinyl that are fixed to the wall with arrows and stakes.

Upstairs, in the mezzanine gallery, The Rymer Gallery will feature works by Nora Mulheren and Masumi Nyui – both recent MFA graduates from SCAD who are promising young artists with fresh ideas and mediums.
