The next SNAP ON 2 & 4 at the Nashville Jazz Workshop is Friday July 23 and features pianist Lori Mechem & Ritmos Picantes.
Lori Mechem & Ritmos Picantes were formed 20 years ago by a group of Nashville jazz players with a love of Brazilian music. The group includes Nashville Jazz Workshop Directors Lori Mechem & Roger Spencer (bass), and also includes Dann Sherrill (percussion), Denis Solee (sax and flute), Dale Armstrong (drums), & Pete Huttlinger (guitar). This particular performance is a special occasion, as it brings back two of the group's original members (Dale Armstrong and Pete Huttlinger) who have not performed with the group in recent years.

The group's debut CD, "Welcome to Brazil," was recorded in 1997 and was nominated as best jazz album in the Nashville Music Awards. Since that time Lori has recorded two CD's of Brazilian music with the Ritmos Picantes band members: "Brazilian Christmas" (Village Square Music) and "Return to Ipanema" (Green Hill Music).
