A Celebration of the Guitar: John Johns and Friends “Mixing it Up.” Featuring Kirsten Cassel, cello, Jared Hauser, oboe, Amy Jarman, soprano, John Johns, guitar, Jane Kirchner, flute, Kathryn Plummer, viola and Christian Teal, violin. John Johns and Friends present a colorful program of compositions from the Baroque and Classical eras. Program includes Trio Sonata in A minor by Telemann, featuring Jared Hauser, Jane Kirchner, and Kirsten Cassel. Soprano Amy Jarman and cellist Kirsten Cassel join Johns in the Spanish Cantata “No se emendara jamas” by Handel, a little known work and the only piece Handel wrote for the guitar, followed by a collection of Spiritual Songs by Bach. Ending the program is an arrangement by Johns of the Serenade in D, Op. 8 by Beethoven with Kathryn Plummer and Christian Teal.

    Location: Ingram Hall
