The Complete Well Tempered Clavier – the final series Pianist Nies will conclude his three-year solo recital series during the 2010-2011 season. For the last three concerts of the series devoted to J.S. Bach, Nies will include three of the greatest solo sonatas from the Romantic period. Honoring Schumann’s 200th birth year, the fall 2010 concert features the first work Schumann dedicated to his beloved Clara: Sonata No. 1, Opus 11. The final recitals in the spring of 2011 will feature the mighty Brahms 3rd Sonata, and the final concert will honor Liszt’s 200th with his great b minor sonata. Sponsored by the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation.
