Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel

Students from the Salama Institute, a faith-based nonprofit supporting at-risk youth in Nashville, will once again take the stage at Belmont University’s Troutt Theater for the second of the organization’s 2010 Summer Performing Arts Series. The troupe will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway classic Carousel July 16-18.

Carousel is the story of the romance between Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan. After Bigelow’s tragic suicide, he is offered redemption by being allowed to return to earth for one day to encounter his daughter, who he never knew in life. Major Community Supporters for this event and The Salama Institute include the National Endowment for the Arts, HCA/Tri-Star, Belmont University, Price CPA’s, Bohan, United Way of Nashville, RH Boy Publishing, Corrections Corporation of America, Christ Presbyterian Church, Covenant Presbyterian Church, St. Georges Episcopal Church and Village Chapel.
