The 7th Tennessee Calvary, Co. D Comes to Belle Meade Plantation Saturday, August 7!

Come experience the life of a Civil War Cavalry Company.

The 7th Tennessee Cavalry, Co. D. was reactivated into service in 1986 by a group of historian/horsemen from mostly west and middle TN., northern MS and Al. The original unit was the same that Nathan Bedford Forrest joined as a private, only to ascend eventually to the rank of Lt. General. The current incarnation of the unit participates in 8 - 10 events and/or Living Histories per year, mostly in the southeastern part of the United States. The 7th TN. has been involved in several motion picture endeavors for either the screen or in some cases for National Park offices. The men of the 7th TN. provide all of their own horses, tack, weapons, gear, etc. with no outside funding and are dedicated to historical accuracy and educating the public as to the life and accomplishments of the Confederate cavalryman of the western theatre of the war.
