Belmont University and Nashville Artist Team Up For Community Mural

Colombian-born artist Jairo Prado will lead a group of Nashville residents and Belmont University students in the creation of an 8’ by 16’ collective mural celebrating the university theme of “Giving Shape to Airy Nothings: Inventing Communities, Creating Identities.” In order to elicit community input, there will be two community open forums and sketching sessions. The four panel, portable mural will be displayed at various prominent locations during Belmont’s 2010 School of Humanities Symposium, sometimes as a backdrop for keynote speakers. This event would not be possible without funding from the Tennessee Arts Commission and Belmont University's College of Arts & Sciences. The first session will be at the Coleman Recreational Center, and the second will be in Belmont University’s Leu Center for the Visual Arts, room 205.
