Flannery O’Connor is credited with creating some of the most unusual short stories from the American South. Her mixture of character, theme, imagery and dialect make for unforgettable events and personalities. Born in Georgia in 1925, she produced two collections of short stories and two novels before dying at the age of 39. She often described her characters and her plots with the word “grotesque.” You will have to see if you agree with that label.

Instructor: Dr. Dennis Loyd, Lipscomb University retired professor of English Required reading: "Flannery O’Connor: The Complete Stories."
