Sustainability is a holistic cultural, economic, scientific and faith-based phenomenon. Like that of the enlightenment, the industrial revolution, the city beautiful movement and the information age, sustainability represents a time of emerging cultural awareness and change. Sustainability however seeks to accomplish more than just creation care. It seeks positive change in individual behaviors and lifestyles that affect creation but also optimizing business and economic opportunity, greater service and justice for all people and all life forms but particularly for the poor and the “least of these.” The Lifelong Learning program offers people of retirement and semi-retirement age an opportunity to expand knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, noncompetitive environment.

Instructor: Dodd Galbreath, executive director and assistant professor in Lipscomb University’s Institute for Sustainable Practice
