Business Analysis One: Principles, Skills, and Tools of Business Analysis (4 days - 32 IIBA Education Credits CDU )

A fast-paced, highly interactive overview of the profession of Business Analysis and the role of the Business Analyst. The primary reference is the (provided) IIBA Body of Knowledge (BABOK Guide VER 2.0). It is a unique and powerful business resource, and that is how we teach it.

This IIBA-endorsed seminar details the role of the Business Analyst across business and project responsibilities. Students leave with a working knowledge of the hierarchy of requirements (Business, Stakeholder, Functional, Non-functional, Transition), and how the business analyst acts as a liaison among stakeholders. We also teach a set of tools for planning, problem solving, and decision-making that are widely used and proven effective. This seminar works as an foundation for new Business Analysts and a refresher for experienced BA’s. It is also designed to fill the gap in understanding for project managers, project sponsors, technical personnel, and others who manage into the domain of business analysis.

Students leave this seminar with a thorough understanding of the five categories of Requirements found in all projects. Students also gain an understanding of when to deploy the tools of business analysis, as we track BA deliverables across a case study project life cycle in a series of team exercises.
