Director Joe Berlinger documents the legal fight of indigenous communities of Ecuador against Chevron. Exploring the human toll of inadequate environmental stewardship, North American willingness to exploit developing nations and responsible and irresponsible uses of technology, Crude follows plaintiffs and defendants from Houston highrises to the rain forests of Latin America as both sides make their case.

The film was selected for the Sundance Film Festival and has been named one of the Best Documentaries of the Year by the National Board of Review. It won the Human Spirit Award at the Nashville Film Festival and the International Green Film Award from Cinema for Peace.
