Cyntoia Brown is currently serving a life sentence after killing a man when she was 16 years old. Granted generous access to Brown as she was tried and convicted, director Dan Birman documents not only Brown’s case but her life, asking important questions about youth violence, adolescent development and sentencing, and the criminal justice system.

Cyntoia’s Story was produced by The Independent Television Service (ITVS), which is the co-producing partner with PBS of the Emmy-winning Independent Lens television series. It is scheduled to air on PBS stations nationwide in May 2011.
