    Billy Collins, esteemed poet and former U.S. poet laureate, will host a free public lecture on Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School. Collins is the reipient of the 2010 Nashville Public Library Literary Award.

    Known for best-selling works such as Ballistics, Picnic, Lightning and The Art of Drowning, Collins is the seventh recipient of the Literary Award bestowed by the library and funded by the Nashville Public Library Foundation. Previous winners include John Irving, David Halberstam, David McCullough, John Updike, Ann Patchett and Doris Kearns Goodwin.
