    NJW is kicking off our 2011 Snap on 2&4 performances in world class style with a return to the Jazz Cave by gifted pianist, composer, and arranger Tamir Hendelman, appearing in a special Saturday evening Snap, January 22. Tamir's past appearances in Nashville, both as a leader and with the Jeff Hamilton trio, have been some of our most memorable events.The evening performance will consist of two sets, beginning at 8:00pm, and Tamir will be joined by Roger Spencer on bass and Marcus Finnie on drums.

    But wait, there's more! We could not be more excited that Tamir is conducting an afternoon workshop, this Saturday, January 22 at 2:00pm on "How to Arrange Standards Creatively for Vocalists and Small Instrumental Groups." Tamir is increasingly being sought out for his original, inventive arranging. Simply put, no one is doing it quite like him. When the one-and-only Barbara Streisand performed on Oprah, and also for her rare, weeklong engagement at the Village Vanguard, she could have called anyone in the world. She chose Tamir Hendelman. She isn't alone. More and more of the jazz world's best are doing the same. Students and experienced professionals alike will benefit immensely from this unique chance to learn his approach to arranging. We may not get this chance again!
