    gallery F. at Scarritt-Bennett and the Foreign Language Acting Group (F.L.A.G.) will host an evening of poetry and music celebrating Nashville’s Italian community. The event will be held Nov. 11 and is free and open to the public. Reservations are required.

    The poems: “La Terra Santa” by Alda Merini; “Meriggiare Pallido e Assorto” by Eugenio Montale; “La Notte” by Maria Grazia Catanzani; “Lo Spino Bianco” by Umberto Piersanti; “Colore di Pioggia e di Ferro” by Salvatore Quasimodo; “La Primavera” by Claudio Damiano; “Diritto dell’uguaglianza” by Unknown; “Anima” by Andrea Ravalli; “Stella” by Ester Ciulli; and Canto three “Inferno” by Dante.

    The songs: Special guest artist singer/songwriter Cristina Taddonio, F.L.A.G.'S ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2010, will sing her original Jazz/Pop songs in Italian and English.

    This event is part of a series that aims to encourage people of all backgrounds to learn about foreign cultures through literature and music. The event’s poetry readers include individuals with a variety of connections to Italian countries, and who have extensive knowledge of the featured poets. Readers include Viviana Luison, Frank Como, Richard Shavi, Susan Brown, Rosemery Schultz, Bo Richardson, Sally Hendrick, Vanessa Jackson, and Richard Hohman.
