    The Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra, a community orchestra with over 70 members, is presenting two free winter-themed concerts entitled, “Winter Reveries,” on Tuesday, December 7 and Sunday, December 12, 2010.  The December 7th concert will be held at First Apostolic Church, 265 Broadmoor Drive in Nashville at 7:00pm, followed by the Dec. 12th concert at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 7594 Old Hickory Blvd. in Whites Creek, Tennessee at 5:30pm. Under the baton of Music Director Christopher Norton, the Nashville Philharmonic’s music repertoire for both concerts will include: Christmas Fantasy (arr. Dan Goeller); Tchaikovsky, Scherzo from Symphony No. 1 (Winter Reveries); Winter from The Seasons by Glazunov; Anderson, Bugler’s Holiday and Sleigh Ride; and, Tchaikovsky’s Journey through the Snow and Waltz of the Snowflakes from The Nutcracker. Featured violin soloist is Concertmaster Rebecca Willie, performing Dvorak’s Romance.

    The Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra (www.nashvillephilharmonic.org ) is a volunteer community orchestra of over 70 members with differing skill levels who play a diverse range of orchestral music for community audiences throughout Middle Tennessee. The orchestra routinely features area soloists and new music by local composers. Dr. Christopher Norton, professor of music at Belmont University, has served as its music director and conductor since 2008.  NPO was founded in 2004 by Kelly Corcoran (currently associate conductor of the Nashville Symphony) as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. It is an incorporated association organized for recreational and educational purposes, providing performances that are free and open to the public.
