The invention of photography allowed the world to explore the intricacies of motion, and this installation explores the art of capturing movement through a lens. The Way We Move features video that captures the motion of the human body, bringing together historical and contemporary video artists’ work to examine the way our bodies manipulate space and time. These artists approach movement in different ways; through structuralism, pop culture, contemporary dance, and humor. Artists include Peer Bode, Barbara Hammer, Robert Campbell, Aurelia Mihai, Jeff Daniel Silva, and a collaboration of Monica Panzarino and Nadine Sobel. The Way We Move offers insight into the development of the medium of video art over a thirty-year span.
