Nightcap - Metaludes and Paraludes
January 24, 2011
Add Review/Comment
Stan Link and Mark Wait collaborate in a provocative program: Link has composed three piano works drawing from pieces Wait will play by Haydn, Schubert, and Schumann. His opening work, Metalude, will include fragments from the program to follow: Haydn’s Sonata No. 32 in B minor, Schubert’s Six German Dances, and Schumann’s Sonata in G minor. Between Haydn/Schubert and Schubert/Schumann, Link’s Paraludes will draw upon fragments from the preceding and succeeding works. The program will conclude with Schumann’s Sonata. Thus the program consists of a continuing thread:
Metalude
Haydn: Sonata in B minor
Paralude I
Schubert: Six German Dances
Paralude II
Schumann: Sonata in G minor
Taken as a whole, this program becomes a conversation between past and present, somewhat similar to composer Luciano Berio’s orchestral work Renderings, based upon Franz Schubert’s sketches for a tenth symphony.

This event will be video recorded for later broadcast on WNPT-2 Television. Valet parking provided. Held in Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall.
