The 2011 Ballet Ball will mark the culmination of a year's worth of anniversary festivities celebrating 25 years of Nashville Ballet. Ball Chairs Nancy Cheadle and Sandra Lipman, long-time Ballet supporters and noted event coordinators, are planning an unforgettable evening on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville. With elegant décor in varying shades of pink and silver, the elaborate black-tie affair for 450 guests will begin with cocktails and a high-end silent auction featuring 25 "temptations and destinations" representing 25 years of the company followed by dinner and dancing.
Paul Vasterling, Artistic Director/CEO, Fulbright Scholar and international award-winning choreographer is also planning a stunning performance as part of this spectacular evening featuring Nashville Ballet company dancers accompanied by celebrated Nashville artists. Sharing their musical talent on the stage will be songwriter Pat Alger (1991 Nashville Songwriters Association International's Songwriter of the Year, 1992 ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year, and writer of such #1 hits as "The Thunder Rolls" and "Unanswered Prayers" for Garth Brooks) and the Grammy-nominated, break-out sibling trio, The Band Perry, whose hit "If I Die Young" reached #1 atop the Country Radio Charts and is now a certified Platinum single. Tony and Emmy Award winning, internationally renowned star of the dance world, Twyla Tharp, will also be in attendance to accept the Vasterling Award for Excellence in Dance. In addition, our Master of Ceremonies for the evening is none other than Nashville's own Julianne Hough, the triple-threat singer/actress/dancer known to millions of fans as the two-time professional dance champion on ABC-TV's top-rated "Dancing with the Stars" before expanding into the worlds of music and film.
Ballet Ball raises money for Nashville Ballet's innovative education and community engagement initiatives which reach over 41,000 underserved children, families, and seniors at schools, libraries, and community centers in a 15-county area every year.
