Science Cafe: February
February 17, 2011
Add Review/Comment
Adventure Science Center invites you to join us for a series of informal discussions on current issues in science. Whether tackling how science can solve global problems or help us to understand how the universe works, these gatherings are NOT lectures. They are an opportunity for you to share your opinions, ideas and thoughts with other science lovers and to meet local scientists in a fun, casual setting. Bring your thoughts, opinions and questions and prepare for a fun, lively discussion! Join us on the Third Thursday of each month. Locations may vary.
This month's topic: Making Stuff
Science and Technology has brought us personal computer, cell phones, wi-fi, and electric cars. But what is next on the horizon? Join in this special Science Cafe dedicated to MAKING STUFF as we explore how engineers are working to create smarter, stronger, smaller and greener products. Our panel of experts will answer questions and discuss how engineers are taking inspiration from nature and other unusual sources.
Sharon Weiss, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering, Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, Holly Stretz, Assisstant Professor, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Tennessee Technological University, Ken Currie, P.E., Ph.D., is Director of the Center for Manufacturing Research (CMR) at Tennessee Technological University.
