Pianist David Briggs played on Muscle Shoals classics "You Better Move On" and "Steal Away" before moving to Nashville in 1965, at age twenty-two. In Music City studios he played on Elvis Presley's "Love Letters" and continued to work with the King for twelve years. Other major session credits include Kenny Rogers's "You Decorated My Life," Cal Smith's "Country Bumpkin," and Sammi Smith's "Help Me Make It Through the Night." With Norbert Putnam, Briggs opened legendary Quadrafonic Studios in 1969, and in 1980 Briggs started his own recording facility, House of David. His bio also includes production, arranging, jingle writing, and performing with Area Code 615. This in-depth career interview will be illustrated with vintage photos, recordings, and film clips. A signing follows in the Museum Store. The program will be streamed live at www.countrymusichalloffame.org. Included with museum admission. Free to museum members.
