Come out to the 8th "Perennial" Trails & Trilliums! This event is raising awareness about protecting our native plants and their woodland habitats.
The 8th “perennial” Trails & Trilliums will be organized and directed this year by the Friends of South Cumberland (FSC) at a perfect new location, the historic Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, just blocks off 1-24 in Monteagle, TN, three miles from Sewanee
A great slate of activities has been planned for hikers, wildflower enthusiasts, gardeners and families:
An expanded native plant sale to be held in the Assembly gymnasium, rain or shine
Hikes for all— wildflower walks, Fiery Gizzard rambles, the North Nature Trail (off the back bluff of the Assembly), family hikes, Shakerag Hollow—considered one of the premier wildflower hikes in the Southeast, Collins Gulf, Lost Cove Cave, and more! All led by SCSRA Park Rangers, members of the Sewanee Herbarium and other experts.
The Cumberland Wild Forum — "Creative Ways to Save Great Spaces & How YOU Can Help" with Moderator Randy Hedgepath, TN State Naturalist
Wine & Wildflowers —honoring Bran Potter, the 2011 recipients of the Yeatman Environmental Education Award, and a special Trails & Trilliums Tribute award to the “William’s Wildflowers” book project
A Walking Tour of Assembly Gardens, open morning and afternoon
NEW! The Woodland Garden Gallery— showcasing quality garden sculpture, containers, and more.
