Free Daytime Concert - Gunter Knaup

Gunther Knaup, Classical Pianist will perform a one-hour concert of classical and Broadway favorites. Free admission to Cheekwood for all concert goers after the event.

Born in 1949 in post-war Germany, Gunther Knaup began studying piano during his early childhood years. As a member of the prestigious “Tolzer Knabenchor”, a world famous boys choir, Gunther toured throughout Europe.
After highschool, he continued his studies in music education and piano at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and later at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich, Germany where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Performance and
Educational Piano. In 1979, he responded to a call from Broadway composer Charles Strousse, and from CBS producer Bert Decateaux, to work as arranger and studio musician in New York City Over the years, Gunther has worked as entertainer / pianist in hotels and various resorts across the country and the world His repertoire ranges from Bach, Mozart, Liszt, Chopin, Debussy, Brahms to Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein and Gershwin. He, currently, resides in Nashville with his wife Silvia. Gunther Knaup is available for performance opportunities. He is a well experienced performer to play at various functions like ballet classes and recitals, theatre productions (broadway tunes), receptions, dinner parties, fundraising benefits and similar events. His passion, however, is to pass on his love for the piano. He is a full-time piano instructor with the experience and patience to work with students of all ages.
