The Tennessee Art League was organized in 1954 as a nonprofit organization in the State of Tennessee. The primary mission of the TAL is to assist local visual artists by providing gallery space, workshops, and educational programs. In addition, the League endeavors to enrich the community by providing professional artist materials to schools, teaching art in community centers, senior centers and homeless shelters.

The Tennessee Art League is proud to announce a watercolor workshop by Paul Jackson, the author of the esteemed tutorial book "Painting Spectacular Light Effects in Watercolor." Mr. Jackson will demonstrate the versatility of watercolor paint, teaching students to mix colors using a limited palette and how to work in thin layers of washes to build up luminous colors. Emphasis will be on what makes a good painting, planning the entire picture area, the importance of thinking through the composition, what to communicate about the subject and how to correct mistakes. An intense, concentrated and lively presentation, this workshop will elevate the understanding of how watercolor can be controlled.

The cost for members of the Tennessee Art League is $280; non TAL members, $300. To register, contact TAL at (615) 736-5000.

Mr. Jackson is often featured in International Artist magazine and The Artist's Magazine. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. He is a frequent judge/juror for national and international watercolor exhibitions.
