The Women's Table at Scarritt-Bennett Hosts "Table Talk"

The Women’s Table, Scarritt-Bennett’s new women’s empowerment initiative, will host its first Table Talk for Women in Scarritt-Bennett Center’s Dialogue House. The monthly lunchtime discussion group focuses on issues that are important to women and will feature a different speaker each month. The program is designed to bring women together across racial, religious, cultural and economic lines to listen, learn and converse with one another.

The April 28 discussion topic is “A Sudanese Woman’s Perspective on Immigration and Cultural Transition.” Asrar Babikir, a Sudanese immigrant, will be the featured speaker for the session and will share her story of immigration and transition to life in the United States. Middle Tennessee has one of the largest Sudanese populations in the country, and this discussion will provide insights into the Nashville’s Sudanese community.
