Opening reception, book signing and wine tasting featuring artist Joan Jannaman. Joan Porter Jannaman is an artist living and working in Hendersonville, Tennessee who specialized in equine/equestrian themed oil paintings. A childhood full of riding, showing and caring for horses has enhanced her ability to understand and capture the true form and spirit of her subjects. After graduation for the University of Deleware with a degree in Art Education, Joan worked as an art teacher at the Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware. Her studies continued at the Philadelphia College of Art in the field of illustration, The American Academy of Equine Art and the Scottsdale Artist School.
After moving to North Carolina, Joan began freelance work in illustration and advertising design. This soon led to a position as an illustrator for the North Carolina Underwater Archaeology Unit and the NOAA team in charge of the U.S.S. Monitor project. Moving to Texas, Delaware, and Tennessee brought the Jannamans happy years raising their boys. During this time Joan decided to concentrate her work in oils and returned to her lifelong passion for horses. Her award winning paintings have since been published on the covers of and in various equine themed magazines such as The Chronicle of the Horse, Sidelines, Horses in Art, Polo Players Edition, Steeplechase Times, Covertside, among others. Joan’s work can be found in collections throughout the US and Canada.
