The Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl will be played on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 5:40 p.m. CST at LP Field in Nashville and will feature the Mississippi State University Bulldogs (SEC) vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons(ACC).
“The Bowl is thrilled to host two such quality programs as Mississippi State and Wake Forest,” said Brad Lampley, Bowl chair. “Nashville is a premier Bowl destination for players and fans alike, and our combination of world-class entertainment, warm hospitality and a matchup with a tough opponent will make for a rewarding and memorable experience for both programs. Plus, with the busy schedule of BOWL Week activities, the game itself and Nashville’s New Year’s Eve Bash the following night, this will be one of the best times of the year to be in Music City.”
“We couldn’t be more pleased to return as the title sponsor of the Music City Bowl. Our partnership with this outstanding Bowl game has proven exceptionally beneficial for our community and our corporation,” said Dan Crockett, President and CEO of Franklin American Mortgage Company. “The SEC and ACC are well represented here in these two fine universities, and the game should prove to be an exciting matchup. The Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl is Nashville’s Holiday Tradition and an extraordinary occasion to showcase our company and our city to a national audience.”
The 2011 game will mark the sixth Bowl match-up between the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in Nashville. The Bowl’s partnership with the ACC and SEC runs through the 2013 college football season.
Last year’s game featured the University of North Carolina defeating the University of Tennessee, 30-27, in front of a record attendance of 69,143. A 4.9 national television ranking marked the highest rating in the Bowl’s 13-year history, and was the second highest viewership for a non-BCS bowl game on ESPN (7,106,725).
Since its inception in 1998, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has produced $185 million in direct economic impact for Nashville, transforming the week between Christmas and New Year’s into one of the city’s busiest for tourism.
