    Premiere, Ethel Smith, & Members Galleries - 46th Annual Central South Art Exhibition (CSAE). The Central South Art Exhibition, with the help of the Friends of the Tennessee Art League, continues to be one of the oldest and most prestigious art competitions in Tennessee and throughout the country. Attracting artists from all over the U.S. who submit hundreds of pieces of artwork starting in January each year, CSAE recognizes about 60 winning artists with cash awards provided by corporate and individual patrons and sponsors. A total of 419 works of art were submitted in this competition this year from artists who live in 26 states across the country. CSAE subject matter ranges from the contemporary to traditional, with this year's emphasis on realism.

    CSAE's 2011 juror, Joseph Sulkowski, is a distinguished member of Nashville's artist community. He has received numerous awards, including the AAP Grand National Award, the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award and is a signature members of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists, as well as the American Artists Professional League. He is a Life Member of the Art Students League of New York.

    The 46th Annual CSAE will open Saturday, May 7. On that date TAL will host an awards presentation for winning artists at 5 PM, followed by a reception open to the public from 6 - 9 P.M. The Exhibition will hang through Friday, June 24, 2011.

    Second Floor Gallery – Studio A Group's featured artists for May include Asia Emerson, Bob Jones, Christy Pilkington, Jean Gauld-Jaeger, Marlynda Augelle, and Pam Tyson. A diverse selection of subject matter and of artistic mediums will be presented. Studio A artists' work will hang from Saturday, May 7 through Saturday, May 31. An opening reception will be held Saturday, May 7, from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
