Level 2 Backpack: CA Redwood Forest (Sat-Fri)
October 1-October 7, 2011
Add Review/Comment
This is the backpacking trip you've been training for, and it's no beginner adventure. Team Green is heading out West, way West, to California's majestic Redwood Forest for a four (4) night backpacking trip. We'll hike between 6 and 11 miles per day on varying terrain, climbing over fallen trees through foggy forest, through the sandy beeches of the Coastal Trail, and sleeping beneath the shade of great Redwoods. California's Redwood forest is known for chilly temps and mixtures of either rain or fog, but it's also an experience of a lifetime! Are you a beginner? Register early and join us on some Level 1 and Level 2 trips throughout the Spring and Summer to train.
Each year Team Green Adventures treks across the nation for our next major backpacking trip. Check out photos from last year's week long trek to Bucksking Gulch in Arizona/Utah.
When: October 1-7th
Where: Redwood Forest
Starting at Crescent City, CA
Cost: $195 Members, $225 Non-Members (airfare not included)
Trip Leaders: Michael Albonetti & Keeley Reed
Difficulty: This is a Level 2 Backpack. See rating guide below. This would be considered Level 3, but is labeled Level 2 because of mostly moderate terrain. Expect possible creek crossings without bridges, rainfall, cool temps, thick fog, minor earthquakes and some strenuous terrain. This is not a beginner trip. Participants MUST have experience backpacking and be familiar with backpacker safety and gear essentials. Participants who register and are not adequately prepared will be issued a refund by Trip Leader without debate. This is for the safety of the group as a whole. Please attend some other Level 2 trips before registering!
Children Policy: This is an 18 and up event
Dog Policy: Dogs not permitted on this trip
Participation: Limited to 8 backpackers (including leader & co-leader). We must have a minimum of 4.
Refund Policy: This trip is subject to 10% cancellation fee. No refunds after September 1st.
BACKPACKER RATING GUIDE
Level 2 Backpack: You have prior experience with backpacking 5-8 miles per day, know your abilities, have adequate equipment, and would like the added challenge of a longer backpacking trip. These trips include moderate distances (7-10 miles per day) on mostly strenuous terrain. These are often one or two night backpacking trips. It is recommended that you attend a refresher backpacking clinic.
