    Saint-Saëns - Concerto for Cello No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33
Mendelssohn - Symphony No. 3 “Scottish”

Performed in one continuous movement, Saint-Saëns’ First Cello Concerto places incredible demands on the soloist — and German cellist Alban Gerhardt is completely up to the challenge. Known for his intuitive musicianship, he’ll explore the full range of his instrument in this landmark piece. Osvaldo Golijov’s cinematic Sidereus takes an imaginative flight into the night skies, while Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony was inspired by the composer’s visit to an aging Scottish castle, with music that captures the feel of a victorious march through rugged terrain.
