Taking Elmore Leonard's novel Rum Punch and Brundleflying it with his own cinephilic DNA, Quentin Tarantino made his most heartfelt film with this love letter to the 70s, particularly its icons and caper films. Pam Grier and Robert Forster are career-revitalizingly good, and they bring a poignant and emotionally resonant edge to an impeccably-made heist film. When you put flight attendant Jackie Brown (Grier) in a corner, you better watch out! Not The Man (Michael Keaton), the Crime Lord (Samuel L. Jackson), or the Friday/The Fifth Element reteaming of Chris Tucker and Tiny 'Zeus' Lister will stop our girl Jackie. With music by The Delfonics, great supporting work from Bridget Fonda and Robert DeNiro.
