Shaker Herb Workshop

Presented in collaboration with Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art

Join educators from the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art and members of the Herb Society of Nashville for an exploration of the Shakers and their use of herbs. The program will begin at the Frist Center with a tour of the exhibition Gather Up the Fragments: The Andrews Shaker Collection followed by lunch. In the afternoon, the program will continue at Cheekwood with a tour of its herb garden that focuses on the herbs found in a typical Shaker garden. Participants will then head to Cheekwood’s studios to create their own herbal garden markers. Everyone will leave with their markers, a selection of herb seeds, and a list of ways to use their herbs once they have been harvested.

    Tickets:

    $20 members; $35 non-members.
    Cost includes all supplies, lunch, and admission to the Frist Center and Cheekwood.
