Nashville Public Library welcomes artist and designer Brian D. Parker on Thursday, June 9th for a live sand art performance entitled The Bloom.

Sand art, also known as sand animation, is a performance where a story is told by manipulating sand on a lighted surface. Mr. Parker created this special 30-minute sand art piece to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Main Library. It was co-written by Jeremy W. Childs. The performance will be projected on large screen. Seating will be available in the lobby with additional viewing space on the second floor balcony. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Brian Parker is the creator of Parker Designs, a set design and graphic design business. He is a two-time regional Emmy winner and has judged several regional and national Emmy Award competitions. Brian’s designs can be seen in print and on television nationally and in more than a dozen countries around the world.

The Main Library opened on June 9, 2001. We are celebrating its tenth anniversary with numerous events for all ages, including puppets shows, musical performances, exhibits, and lectures. See our complete list of anniversary events online at www.library.nashville.org/events_annual/tenyearanniversary.asp.
