Michael L. Walker’s latest play, GEMs, is about the men of the Monroe family. B.B. Monroe is the oldest brother that everyone looks up to for support and wisdom, but sometimes feels his words fall on deaf ears. He and his brother L. B. are contractors who bid on HUD homes to buy, restore and resale. L. B. Monroe, the younger brother, has been experiencing personal conflicts of his own because of his bad decisions with women. Jalil, their nephew, believes dating a variety of women is the spice of life, only to find himself faced with a dilemma that may change his life forever. Bobby, the cousin who is distraught over his pending divorce, is beginning to mentally unravel as he does everything he can to save his marriage. Although the roads they choose bring challenges of their own yet they remain good men.

Join us as we follow the Monroe men on their painful journey in search of answers to salvage their lives, while struggling in the hood.
