This summer will heat up when ABC puts a spotlight on Nashville for the hottest music event of the year - "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock."
Filmed June 9-12, today's most exciting Country Music stars hit the stage during a four-day party and celebration of America's music for a special that will air Sunday, Aug. 14 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Little Big Town and Dierks Bentley join a concert lineup that includes individual performances and one-of-a-kind collaborations including Alabama performing with Brad Paisley; Jason Aldean collaborating with Kelly Clarkson; a late-night jam with Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow; Josh Turner singing with "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery; "Idol" runner up Lauren Alaina joining Martina McBride; Gretchen Wilson partying with Big & Rich; and Alan Jackson performing with Zac Brown Band.
Previously announced performers include Trace Adkins, The Band Perry, Sara Evans, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban.
Behind-the-ropes access is part of the special including interviews with The Band Perry, Aldean and Clarkson, Lady Antebellum, Swift, and Shania Twain; a late-night jam at a downtown club with Luke Bryan; and a day in the life of McCreery and Alaina as they experience their first CMA Music Festival. Several artists step up to introduce their peers including Bentley, McBride, Rascal Flatts, John Rich, Rucker, Shelton, and Twain.
The annual event, which celebrated its 40th year in 2011, is unlike any other: four days, 30 hours of autograph signings, 100 hours of live music, hundreds of artists and celebrities, and a party list of thousands of avid, singing and dancing-till-dawn fans. This is the seventh time ABC will broadcast this special - which invites the whole country to America's biggest Country Music bash.
Originally started as Fan Fair® in 1972, the legendary event has featured performances by every major star in the format. What started with 5,000 fans has grown to a daily attendance of more than 65,000 representing every state and 27 foreign countries.
CMA Music Festival is organized and produced by the Country Music Association. Premiere Radio Networks is the Official Radio Broadcaster. American Airlines is the Official Airline of the CMA Music Festival. Chevrolet(tm) is the Official Ride of Country Music. Gildan® is the Official T-Shirt of CMA Music Festival. Lay's is the Official Snack of CMA Music Festival. CMA is a proud supporter of DRIVE4COPD. Fan Fair® is a registered trademark of CMA.
