The Education Equal Opportunity Group, Inc. (EEOG) will host its 8th Annual Fundraising Gala on Sat, August 13 at the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel in Nashville.

This year's Gala is cocktail attire and promises to be the event of the summer complete with a motivational keynote speaker, silent/live auction and live jazz music entertainment, ‘til the wee hours (okay’ 10pm).

The EEOG’s ultimate goal is to eliminate the dropout cycle for underserved, first generation and low-income students. “We are very excited about this years' gala because it’s another opportunity unite and educate the community about how we can create opportunities to develop future leaders”, said EEOG President and Founder George Thomas. The event theme is "Vision + Commitment = Success!" which summarizes the EEOG's founding principle that exposure to the unknown can spark a burning desire for achievement in the lives of today's youth. Three pioneers will be recognized and honored at the 8th Annual Fundraising Gala. The 2011 EEOG Pioneer Award Recipients are:

    1. The Honorable Tim Burchett, Knox County Mayor, Knoxville
    2. Dr. Susan Kessler, Principal, Hunters Lane High School, Nashville
    3. Dr. Ray White, Founder, ProHealth Rural Health Services, Franklin

Tom Black, states - "Success is never owned, it is always rented and the rent is due everyday. The minute you stop paying the rent on success, you immediately begin paying the rent on failure. Since 2001, EEOG has mentored and provided leadership training to 5,500 students throughout Middle Tennessee and is now expanding its reach to serve public school systems regionally. To date, 95% of students mentored in EEOG's programs have graduated from public high schools and 86% of those have graduated with honors. The EEOG, is a 501(c)3 organization that is supported by tax deductible contributions made by individuals, companies, and organizations.
