The Rymer Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition Radimafungle Gestations, featuring new work by local artist Charles Clary. The show opens August 6, 2011 and will run through August 27, 2011. Charles Clary is a contemporary local artist who creates extraordinary pieces from cut paper.

Mr. Clary makes thousands of intricate cuts into layers of brightly colored paper by hand. Mr. Clary creates a world of fiction that challenges his viewers to suspend disbelief and venture into his fabricated reality. By layering hand-cut paper he is able to build intriguing viral colonies that recede into space, and invite viewers into playful interactions with this conceived world. The artwork embodies aerial mapping photography, or bisected layers of DNA, or the patterns created by sound waves. Mr Clary’s abstract and multi-dimensional paper works will transform The Rymer Gallery into an otherworldly installation of viral forms and sculptural color.

The gallery will host a public reception on August 6, 2011 for the First Saturday Downtown Art Crawl from 6:00pm-9:00pm, and a private reception Friday August 5.
