Scarritt-Bennett Center will offer a summer session of its Diversity in Dialogue Faith Series beginning September 1, 2011. The Dialogues on Faith program provides opportunities to converse with local people of various faiths and learn about different traditions.

Participants will be able to communicate in a respectful environment without pressure to convert to other faiths in which opinions and issues about different faiths can be shared, explored and discussed. The interfaith dialogues will focus on increasing mutual understanding of different faiths, developing interfaith relationships, and community healing.

Developed by Scarritt-Bennett Center, the dialogue groups are made up of 8-12 diverse individuals. The groups are led by trained facilitators and provide a forum for people to share their feelings, opinions and thoughts in a non-defensive, non-critical environment.

Scarritt-Bennett has offered DID groups about race and immigration for several years. This newest series about faith rounds out the discussion series and opens up a dialogue about an increasingly important area of diversity for the community. The objective is to help participants understand their own and others’ views on racism, diversity, faith and immigration to create long-term change.
